For summer, if your house has bricks or any material with high thermal mass outside and/or brick or concrete paths, it is important to shade these from the sun in summer. The shade should be spaced away from the wall, nt stapled down (blow in the breeze) and a breeze-way between the shade and the wall. And better if the shade is removed at night so any built-up heat can be removed.
For winter, a type of conservatory to the North will keep that side of the house warm.
It is important to reduce heat trnsfer through windows.
Wind from the North is hot in summer and from the S, S/E, S/W is cold in winter. It is important to shield from these winds use draught protection.
